Functional and decorative powder coating is applied in dry and free-flowing form. The biggest difference between powder coating and wet painting is that powder coating does not require the use of solvents to coat the filler, pigments and resin. Usually applied electrostatically, powder coating is baked at 120 to 240 degrees for a certain period of time to obtain a hard and smooth surface.<\/p>\n

How to Apply Powder Coating?<\/b><\/p>\n

The loadability of electrostatic powder coatings gives optimum performance when free from moisture and in a fluid state. <\/b>If the storage temperature is colder than the application environment due to the moisture absorption of powder coatings, it is recommended to keep it at the application ambient temperature without opening its mouth before pouring it into the container. Storage and application in ventilated areas with temperatures below 30 \u00b0C ensures optimum performance of powder coatings.<\/p>\n

The following necessary steps ensure a high yield of powder coatings:<\/b><\/p>\n

  • It should not be used in silicone application equipment.<\/li>\n
  • The product must be baked at the temperature and time specified on the product.<\/li>\n
  • Powder coating should be applied with a suitable electrostatic gun.<\/li>\n
  • Grounding must be well done, metal-to-metal contact must be ensured.<\/li>\n
  • Appropriate work clothes (mask, overalls etc.) should be provided before application.<\/li>\n
  • It is of great importance that the compressed air is free from moisture and oil.<\/li>\n
  • Powder paint should not be kept in the hopper for a long time and if the powder paint in the hopper is damp, it should be ventilated for a certain period of time to remove moisture or fresh paint should be used.<\/li>\n
  • The suction pipe must be in good contact with the powder paint in the hopper. The powder coating booth must be operated as recommended by the manufacturer. <\/li>\n
  • Recycled paint should be added to the fresh paint at the recommended rate to prevent degradation of application performance.<\/li>\n
  • The recycling paint should be poured into the hopper after sieving the foreign materials that may have mixed with the recycling paint.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
